Faten Alshazly named as a Woman of Excellence

HALIFAX – (November 19, 2015) – The Canadian Progress Club Halifax Cornwallis marked their 26th year naming their Women of Excellence. This year Faten Alshazly, Principal and Chief Creative Officer of WeUsThem was inducted into this illustrious fraternity.

“Sharing the stage with these leaders from the past and present is a honour in it of itself,” says Alshazly. “It speaks volumes to the calibre of leadership Halifax has to offer across industries and sectors.”

“Faten’s contributions to the Halifax community go beyond her charismatic leadership at WeUsThem,” says Ashwin Kutty, President and CEO of WeUsThem. “It’s her perseverance and devotion to influence and impact our community, combined with her pleasant nature that’s created such an extraordinary year for Faten.”

Faten was named as Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women earlier this year, which is a first for Nova Scotia in the Arts and Communications category, followed by the team she leads being awarded a Webby Award for their work on TeenMentalHealth.org, another first for the east coast. Yet another first is to be announced in due course for the team at WeUsThem.

“It’s been an amazing year,” says Alshazly. “Much can be said for what’s been accomplished, but I think it comes down to the brilliance that makes up our team at WeUsThem and our determination to create something special with meaningful impacts.”

Alshazly’s accomplishments have defined her as a Women of Excellence. Through her work, mentorship and volunteerism in the community, to servicing national and international organizations, Faten has truly led the way for female leaders & entrepreneurs.

Faten was in good company, joined by The Honourable Lena Diab, Minister of Immigration; Ms. Karen Oldfield, President and CEO, Halifax Port Authority; Ms. Heather Gibson, Executive Director, Halifax Jazz Festival; and Dr. Martha Crago Vice President of Research, Dalhousie University to name a few recipients of this honour.
