Going Gold With The Davey Awards

HALIFAX – (December 10, 2015) - WeUsThem recently brought home the prestigious Davey Award by The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA) and won Gold for their Experience by Design web and mobile application, myEXP, for McMaster University.

A first of its kind in the healthcare industry, it measures intervention effectiveness, while bringing the perspectives of all parties (the patient, the physician/care provider and the patient) in a comparative fashion under one application. From managing appointments, to maintaining a journal, patients are now able to catalogue each of their health interventions, while feeding into a comparator of experiences from the other players in the intervention.

“Understanding how an intervention is perceived by all parties could have impacts on not just intervention effectiveness but health outcomes,” says Ashwin Kutty, President and CEO of WeUsThem. “myEXP breaks the cycle of information loss over multiple interventions that are now measured with improvements in each subsequent intervention leading to better health management.”

"From a research perspective, the myEXP suite of apps are user-friendly interactive data collection tools that provide insight into experiences of youth with mental disorders, their designated family members, and service providers in real time on an ongoing basis,” says Dr. Gillian Mulvale, McMaster University. “We’re excited at the prospect of being able to operationalize the long-sought policy goals of person and family-centred mental health care design and delivery.”

Earlier this year, WeUsThem was awarded another first for the East Coast, a Webby Award for their work on TeenMentalHealth.org, making 2015 a historic year for the team and a phenomenal statement in improving healthcare across disease profiles and exporting superb Atlantic services on a world stage.

“Getting involved in projects that impacts the lives of our communities is an awesome responsibility but a gratifying one considering the recent successes we have had,” says Faten Alshazly, Principal & Chief Creative Officer at WeUsThem. “It’s amazing to look back and see what’s been accomplished this year by our talented team.”

About The Davey Awards

The Davey Awards exclusively honour the “Davids” of creativity, the finest small agencies, firms and companies worldwide. David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock - the sort of thing small agencies do each year. The annual International Davey Awards honours the achievements of the "Creative Davids", who derive their strength from big ideas rather than big budgets. The Davey Awards is the leading awards competition specifically for smaller agencies as they compete with their peers to win the recognition they deserve. Please visit www.daveyawards.com for more information.

The Davey Awards is sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms. Please visit www.aiva.org for a full member list and more information.
